CRU

01

What is it?

Cru is a school-based ministry that engages teenagers and connects them to Jesus Christ.  Since 1967, the ministry has been reaching out to teenagers across America and around the world.  Cru has been ministering in Long Beach since 2012.  Since that time, God has opened doors for Cru to be present at more than eight area schools, where it has the ability to share the good news of Jesus Christ.  In each school, teams of full-time and part-time staff members, interns, and volunteers join hands with parents, educators, churches, and community leaders to equip students to make a positive and eternal difference.

Susana Bendijo

Cornerstone Lay Leader

Susana Bendijo finds great joy ministering to Long Beach youth through CRU High School. Susana says, “God has given me eyes to see the desperation of the young people of Long Beach who long for hope and cry out for the salvation that only Jesus can bring. I am inspired by Isaiah 61:1, which fuels my passion as I work with CRU.”

Where is it?

Cornerstone supports Cru missionaries at Wilson, Poly, Lakewood and Millikan High Schools and at CSU Long Beach.  As a church, we have focused our ministry engagement on Millikan and Wilson High Schools.

How can I get involved?

Serve

The best way to get involved is to “go and see” what the ministry is all about by visiting a school campus alongside one of our local missionaries.  If it’s a good fit and you are able to make a regular commitment (weekly or monthly) of 1-2 hours,  you will receive appropriate training.  Opportunities also exist to host meals, serve food, and offer prayer.  Email missions@cclb.org to take the next step.

Pray

CRU leaders meet virtually every Monday from 3:15 -4:15pm to pray over their students' welfare and spiritual growth. For more information or to join this prayer meeting, email Missions@cclb.org.
